Why Lone Mountain?
I've been helping buyers and sellers in Northwest Las Vegas since 2014, and Lone Mountain is one of the areas I love showing to buyers who want a little more space. The neighborhood surrounds Lone Mountain itself, the rocky desert peak that stands on its own in the northwest valley, and much of it sits in the 89129 ZIP code. It borders Centennial Hills, and Summerlin is a short drive south.
What my clients love is the mix of open space and convenience. You can hike to the top of Lone Mountain in the morning, take in views of the whole Las Vegas Valley, and still be minutes from shopping, dining, and the 215 Beltway.
Neighborhoods & Homes
Lone Mountain is known for variety, and it's one of the best places in the northwest valley to find a larger lot. Some streets have older custom homes on half-acre and acre-plus lots, some of which allow horses. Others have small gated enclaves of newer custom homes, and there are also traditional subdivisions with family-sized homes. Some custom homes have minimal HOA restrictions and RV garages, which appeals to buyers with RVs, toys, or big plans for their backyard.
Because lot sizes, zoning, and HOA rules change from street to street, it really pays to have someone who knows the area. For current prices and how fast homes are selling, see my Las Vegas Market Stats page.
Parks & Things to Do
- Lone Mountain Park (4425 N. Jensen St.) is a Clark County regional park right next to the mountain. It has equestrian facilities, including a covered practice arena and two round riding pens, plus playgrounds, pickleball, basketball and tennis courts, and picnic areas with reservable gazebos.
- Lone Mountain Summit and Loop is a popular 3.2-mile loop trail in the park. You can climb to the summit or take the gentler loop around the base, and either way you'll get wide views of the valley.
- The log and horse play area and the discovery park's education area at Lone Mountain Park are favorites with kids.
- Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Summerlin's shopping and dining are a short drive to the southwest.
Getting Around
Lone Mountain has quick access to the 215 Beltway and US-95. The Strip is about 20 minutes away, downtown Las Vegas is about 20 minutes, and Harry Reid International Airport is about 30 minutes. Downtown Summerlin is about 15 minutes south, and Centennial Hills is about 10 minutes north.
Schools
Lone Mountain is in the Clark County School District. Public schools in the 89129 area include Sheila Tarr Academy of International Studies (a magnet elementary school), Eileen Conners, Dorothy Eisenberg, and Edith Garehime elementary schools, Justice Myron E. Leavitt Middle School, and Irwin & Susan Molasky Junior High School. Zones are assigned by exact address, so I always help buyers confirm the zoned schools for a specific home with CCSD and look up current ratings before writing an offer.
